I hereby vow........

..to turn the TV off and turn the music ON! I realized yesterday that since the beginning of school for J I have let TJ watch way too much TV. He is such a visual guy that he would sit in front of the TV almost all day if I let him. It became a convenient babysitter since I have been busy with apartment work this week. So instead of turning the TV on I will reach for a good CD. We get so much more work and playing done with some rockin' tunes in the background. This is what I've been listening to the past 2 days and the album hubby has been waiting for. He even pre-ordered it from Amazon.

Ode to John Mayer

Your lyrics are so clever,
Pleasant melodies stick in my mind.
Guitarist talent shines through every endeavor,
Each album a golden find.

(Dude, you lost some major cool points dating Jessica Simpson. What's up with that?)

I have been so sensitive lately to the thought of losing my parents. "Stop this Train" by John Mayer totally hit a nerve with me.

"Don't know how else to say it
I don't want to see my parents go
One generation's length away
From fighting life out on my own

Stop this train
I want to get off
And go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But honestly, won't someone stop this train?"

The rest of the song just reiterates that thought. I almost started crying. I must be nearing 30 or something.......

patriotic day

*It was wear red, white and blue day at J's school.
*I heard a replay of 9/11 reports from the day the towers went down while driving to the Lake
*Dan dropped by in his uniform after a training session for the Air Force and hung out for a couple hours with me and the kids

It was a good day to reflect on my blessings living in the good 'ol USofA. I'm so thankful for the family I was born into in this country and the family hubby and I have together. We have a blessed life and so many freedoms to choose here. I think about that often. I admire my brother Dan and all the men/women serving in the armed forces. Thank you for your dedication to this country!
